Planned by Irene, Eric and Tin, this was to accommodate May on her first vacation since working abroad in Abu Dhabi. A local trip this time, after our HK getaway last year. They were choosing from Palawan, Boracay and Bohol, eventually, Bohol won after much fun debate. Love for chocolate and those bubbly eyes of the tarsiers plus Cebu is just a boat ride - SuperCat - away, paved the way to a Bohol trip.

Our Bohol trip wasn't at all that sunny, but rain did not dampen the atmosphere, there's just too many beautiful places and lots of nice people for this to happen.

Sat: 7am: Drove wifey to her scheduled group recollection. 8am Went out to canvass for hardware to buy steel tubulars for our garage roofing project. 10am: Found a suitable hardware and ordered the materials for a Tuesday morning delivery. 10:30, sent the car for a carwash. 11am, went home to fetch Mico for his regular medical check-up. 1pm, fetch Matthew from school. 2pm, worked on my wedding gift for Omel and Kitty. 4pm, fetch Mr.Katits and proceeded to Paco Park to attend the wedding. 6:30pm, wedding, 8pm, reception. 10pm, we went home. 12midnight, went to Alvin (wifey's cousin) and took GranMa out. And finally, me, home at around 2am.

Sun: 9am, we went to church. 10:30, brunch at Chowking. 11:30, went to Tandang Sora to get the t-shirt I ordered from a friend. Heavy traffic. Got home at around 1:45pm. 2pm we went to Jollibee Zabarte for my inaanak's birthday party. 3pm, we went to Cubao for Tita Babes' birthday salu-salo. 7pm, watch SM Fairview firework display. 7:30, we went to Diamond to visit Irene's parents, to let them see their apos - Mico and Matthew. 9:30pm, we went home. wow!

Archery LHS Oct31- A couple of trainees preparing to shoot their arrows at the 20 meter line during their warm up session. I took the photo standing at the 30 meter line and after that took my turn to try my skills from that distance. Grabe! My first time to release an arrow from that distance, kabado and excited! Mahirap. And these guys later on did it on 50, 60 meters at ease and continued their session (qualifying) even in the rain. Coach Neng Buenaventura told me, on occasions during outdoor competitions, they have to shoot arrows come rain or shine.

They gave me an arm guard but that did not do much. It's not the arm guard but my shooting style that's at fault. Umpisa pa lang naman.

NC lost its smile

No more Smiley.

Yup, May is the new site keeper for NC. I had a chat with her the last time I visited the place. She even gave me a tour, I told her I knew the place very well and that I used to play a lot of airsoft here and Smiley is a friend. Sabi nya barkada nya rin si Raymond and she begun to elaborate Smiley's last days in NC. Same thing comrade Longrifle wrote - that Smiley lose its ways.

I told May that Raymond also spent some of his time with our group during his better days. Sabi ko sa kanya kasa-kasama namin sya sa Diamond pag meron mga ukasyon. Dinadalhan din namin sya ng pagkain sa kubo nya paminsan-minsan pag hindi sya nagpapakita sa grupo. A friend of ours offered him a small job in his canteen but it did not work. We hired Smiley to man our playing site Campo Phoenix on Sundays but that too did not work for him. The man did try to pick pieces of what is left of his life after NC but a lot of things are just too hard for him accept. He got frustrated with life and begun to lose his grip on it.

Hindi na sya nagpapakita sa tropa, ibang tropa na pinupuntahan nya. Puro balita na lang ang dumadating sa amin, madalas hindi pa maganda.

Up to this day I haven't heard a news about our friend. North Camp has lost its smile.

Farm Town

After almost a month now since planting my first crop, my farm has prospered so much that I was able to acquire a 18x18 farm, buy a small house and a red barn, and three dogs and three dog houses to go with it. It's addictive playing this game and sorta relaxing staring at what you have accomplished. To date, it's only the second video game me and Irene enjoy playing together. The first, Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear series. (anlayo! lol)

ThreeSixty Design, Inc. celebrated it's 3rd year anniversary last June 16 with a Mass at St. Andrew's Church in Makati then the group had it's lunch of seafoods at Aling Tonya's in Dampa seaside Macapagal Blvd. and strolled the day away at the MOA. This month also marked my sixth month with the company.

Well its like dipping your foot in a pond and thinking it wont get wet.
Impossible!

A lot can be said about this topic but I'll just leave the rest of it to you guys to share.

Okey, let me put it this way. Airsoft is like life itself. We as players has a role to play and a mission to accomplish. It is not important how many times "you" are successful, but what is important is how you attain that success. Did you cheat?

If you cheat in airsoft, chances are, you are also a cheat in real life. More often than not, a persons attitude in a game reflects his true attitude in real life. Kung madaya ka sa loob, sigurado madaya ka rin sa labas. Ikaw ba gusto mo rin dinadaya ka?

You can say, "kaya naman ako nandaya kasi madaya rin sila!" if this would be the case, better if you stop playing airsoft kasi dagdag ka lang sa pasaway. Try to be honest, practice honesty always. If you are not honest in life at least you have a chance to start it out in airsoft. Malay mo mag tuluy-tuloy yun, hanggang sa tutoong buhay, di ba maganda? Practice!

Off topic but I want to point this thing out specially to newbies. (yung mga veterans hindi na, kasi matatanda na kayo alam nyo na'to! o dapat alam nyo na to? hehe.)

Leave the "QUOTA NA!" attitude behind. (hit scoring).

This attitude most of the time leads to ego trippings that leads to cheating. It does not show a players game improvement. It does not show anything at all. In airsoft, skill wise, it doesn't prove anything. I use to count hits myself and rate my game with it. Sa totoo lang, masarap sa bibig pero masakit sa tenga ng iba. This I realize when I heard the same words from the lips of a fellow player, a newbie, mas masakit sa tenga coming from vets. Okey, I will open up a secret, the troop I am with know this very well and I am gonna share it with you. If ever you happen to chance upon me in a game and I greeted you, "sir, quota ka na ba?". Mind you, don't take it as a compliment, rather, it was meant to accuse. Read between the lines and you'll know what I mean. Pinakawalan ko ito so many times na, wala lang, yung mga nasabihan ko ngumiti lang. Ngek!

How about this, how about instead of counting your hits in a day's game, why not count how many new friends you make during that day. I think one new friend is a lot better than ten "quota" hits. Think.

I'll borrow what my good friend said, Anthony of Team OZ, to sum this thing up.

"I use the FUN METER and not a score card.Skill wise, nothing to prove here."

And from comrade Horace, allow me to repeat it again.

"What counts is integrity. Skills are way down the ladder and fat egos are excess luggage."

She's Back!

After getting ruined by a battery leak due to a lot of carelessness on my part, my four year old Hitec Optic - 6 is back. Many thanks to Anthony Ballesteros of Bullet Hobby (Pasig), who also consults for Hitec RCD Philippines who made it possible in making my tx up and running again. Many offered their help when I posted a thread at RC Philippines regarding my transmitter and I am thankful for that, among them is Bong de Leon Ko (cs BravoKilo) who's blog I am also following. Pretty nice community up there.

Well, it looks like I am back to flying again.

Team DMC lead last weekend's Mini Fiesta Palaro Pambata during the fiesta celebration of Diamond Village. Everybody enjoyed the event, all-in-all more than 15 traditional games were played, the kids had lots of fun and it was a resounding success for everybody. See you again next year. DMC @ G9

Finally, DMC visited Ground-9 at Del Rey-III in Tandang Sora, and met with old time friend RedHorce (Horace). The troop was preparing for this even before the Lent Season and was excited to see G9 for the first time and to renew acquaintances with our comrades from CCAG, the host team. This would be my second visit to G9, my first trip here was after the Lent and I did it as a lonewolf. Now, in my return, as I promised comrade Horace, I would be with the pack.

The games, as expected went well. Even though it was the first time for the guys to step inside G9, they performed well and beyond what I expected of them - they have outdone themselves. I dont need to say this but, the troops love the site. This just show how much the boys miss NC and everything that makes NC a NC.

After a regular game at the Campo, got a chance to celebrate with the troop - DMC, their first year anniversary as an airsoft team yesterday at the Mansion. It was a simple gathering, the troop did a fast potluck for a "bilao" of pansit, a couple of lechon manok and I think there was a liempo too somewhere. hehe.

Eric, cs-kery, delivered his congratulatory remark to the troop after that, those with something to say, shared a story or two to tell, livening up the Sunday night. Of course there are plenty of drinks too. That is something that will never go out.

There was a man on his way home walking by a street noticed another man not afar from where he is. This man is down on his knees, weeping in front of a burnt house. Out of curiosity and as natural "usis" as we Pinoys are, the first man stopped and stood and observe the second man from afar. The man just kept on weeping and wailing, on his knees, he grabbed and hold some ashes, wet by his tears, and he then put it on his face. He continues to wail.

After awhile a third man came and noticed the first man watching the man in the burnt house. Again since usisero nga tayo, the first man asked the third man if he knows who that guy is and what happen and why is he in such pain.

"Well now you see," the third man answered, "that guy used to lived in that house, or what it used to be." He continued, " But for some reason, perhaps blinded by career, left his home, left his parents his family. For so many years he did not return. For so many years he was busy. And finally when he decided to return home - to asked his parents if he can sell the house so he can have extra money for his endeavors, that is what he saw. The remains of their burnt house and his family gone along with it."

Then they noticed the wailing man stood up and walk within the ruins as if he is looking for something. He then bent down and with his hands he hoisted what looks like a piece of stone from the rubbles put it within his chest and embraced it. Tears continue to fall.

"What is that?" asked the first man.

"It is a stutue of an angel." the third man replied. "From where that guy is standing, there used to be a small altar there. That is where they used to pray. When he was still a kid, that is where his mother used to bring him everytime he is sad. That is where his dad plays with him and carries him on his shoulder. Pity. Everything is all gone."

Silence broke for awhile then with a soft tone, the first man answered.

"No he did not lost everything, in fact, he just found his soul back."

My first Sunday game at the site and it looks like my next game will still be on a Sunday. It is more convenient for me to sked my games this way - it's an advantage, I'll be spending more quality weekend time with Irene and the kids. And the guys- they are handling the game site well that I can even take a leave and not worry about anything. No problemo.

Al Padi - "The Nest"

Finally, I was able to set my feet on Al Padi - Antipolo. Originally it was a game site- Gotcha, meant for paintball but growing numbers of airsoft enthusiast made it also their home. The place is a huge complex rich in greenery and vegetations, steep slopes and lots of obstacle course both man-made and natural.

I need to be in Al Padi, It's a trip long over due and it's a commitment I need to settle. Comrade Horace will kill me if I don't show up. Kill me? Well, it's more like he is dying to see me! hehe. Peace comrade chief.

Special thanks to sir Ayie, ma'am Annie and the rest of Team BRAD for their kind accommodations. Free ride na, may dinner pa!

CAMPO PHOENIX

The group finally got a home - Campo Phoenix.

Through the efforts of the whole team, lead by Jeff and Jeng as project and site coordinators, DMC now has it's own playing site. Soft opening was last Jan.31 and Feb.01. Everything went well and smooth. Congratulations to team DMC.

The one hour and forty-five minutes flight from Manila to Hong Kong was filled to capacity. We were seated way back of PAL's A340, the no-frills zone, but no matter, just watching my kids - Matthew (the birthday boy) and Mico all excited of the trip is enough of a comfort. And the two doesn't care really of what's going on as long as they are seated beside the plane window.

Arriving in HK, the airport as expected is very clean and efficient. Already got my orientation on the do's and don'ts from the our certified biyaheros - Tin and Eric, who by the way became our tour guides during our stay - so my time with the customs officials is a breeze that I sometimes think, did they forget something?

We stayed in downtown Kowloon - Mong Kok, in a hostel that is near to just about everything - restos, the systematic bus stops, the crowded yet organized train stations, shops and their night market that sells so many cheap and cool stuffs! The weather is cold and nice and the people friendly most specially Mr. Stanley - owner of the hostel, whom is very accommodating and is always on hand every time you need something.

Naturally with us being in Hong Kong there was plenty of Chinese food on offer, but most of the time we went to McDonalds instead (hehe). It's interesting to see how these world wide stores differ from my country to this country that much to my surprise, Mcdo here does not offer rice.

So many things I still wanted to tell but no more! I will instead let a few of our photos tell the story itself.

Mico and me happen to chance upon in YouTube this classic video from Sesame Street - The Alligator King. I remember this video way back when I myself was just a kid. And the way it is now, Mico likewise loved it as well!

Just when I thought I already forgot what basketball is, me and the guys decided to shoot some hoops instead of shooting bb's.
At first things got hilarious with everybody couldn't find his own range. Then it got insane with some ridiculous shots from here and there. Then things begun to heat up, that's when we got serious and old form started to kick in and whoever said we can no longer jump can disappear in oblivion and never come back. We capped the day with a victory against a younger and faster group, hate to say it but it was experience ruling over youth. Crazy.

Oct11 Game: Camp Urban Zone

DMC's first tour at Camp Urban Zone, more popularly known to vets as MMTC. Players that day numbered from 175 to 225, quite a shocker to the squad who is used to playing with 50 players on an average at NC. I used to play on this grounds way back in 2003, and it does brings back memories of the good ol'days of TMS. Physically, just a few things changed in the site, aside from the watch tower and a few demolished structures, it is pretty much the same MMTC I knew. The real difference really are players playing. How different they are from what I used to know is something I do not want to waste my time. What is important is that there are still a few good men out there who believes that airsoft is a gentleman's game and doesn't mind playing the role of a dying breed.

A fish named Wanda

A fish named Wanda. No, not the movie. Just my 10 year old gold fish. Yep, you read it right - 10 year old. That should give you a hint why I named her Wanda - slang for wonder. You see, I got Wanda way back in 1998, as part of an aquarium package from a friend when I decided to try my skills in taking fish as pets. Fourteen small gold fish, a 36 gallon tank complete with water plants and lots of accessories is the whole thing - all for 600php. That was when I am still a bachelor. Then in 1999, I got marry, moved out of our home and in our own apartment, Irene and me and with us to move are the fish. By the time Matthew entered this world in 2001, a total of five gold fish bid goodbye and now I am left with nine. When Matthew was three, I sometimes let him feed the fish, and it would always make him smile every time feeding frenzy erupts amongst his golden friends. We then moved to another home by that Matthew was six, and from nine, to eight, to seven, to six gold fish what was left now is one. I could have introduced a new set of fish to Wanda as a company but I don't wanna take the risk of contaminating the water on what will now be foreign to it. Wanda is settled so I let it be. At this point in time, my fish is a 10 year old keeper, through her bubbly eyes she saw my son Matthew grow up, she even witnessed my family grow from three to four with the arrival of Michael. Wanda doesn't show sign that she's slowing down, majestically with her floppy and wavy fins she criss crosses the tank back and forth and to the delight of my wife Irene, Wanda would even do a backstroke from time to time.

Ten years, three houses, two kids. In a city there is a village, in a Village is a house, in that house is an aquarium, and in that aquarium is a fish, and in that fish is a story - a fish named Wanda.

Crazy weekend we had, but it was fun! NorthCamp celebrated its 2nd year with everything green and black. More than 70 players came to play and celebrate, more than we expected, none the less the food for the boodle fight was more than enough with plenty to spare. Problem is, the table we prepared came way too short and we had to resort to paper plates instead of the spreaded banana leaves.

My long time team buddy from TMS Chris "WildSwan" Avellana came in to play and just like the good old days we did the TMS run! GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN GOOD BUDDY!

There are three parts on a magic trick, the pledge, the turn, and the prestige.

The Pledge
The first part of a magic trick is called The Pledge. This is, to say, the setup. A magician turns to his audience and introduces "something ordinary,"

A platoon is on a pursuit against our squad of twelve. Upon agreement, Reggie, Jeff and I will form a blockade to hold off would be pursuers while the rest of the squad escape and continue on the mission.

The Turn
The second part of a magic trick is The Turn, the magician simply turns from his audience to induce what can be refer to as the extraordinary portion of the illusion.

As planned, the rest of the squad continue on their escape, while the three of us fortify our positions and wait for the enemies.
More than twenty feet apart, we formed roughly a triangle with me on the tip. Initially all of our muzzles are pointed towards where our enemies will be coming - head on. Slowly I completely turn my back, bury myself in the bushes, cover what ever part of my body I can with leaves and grasses. Now I am pointing opposite Jeff and Reggie. And hidden.

The Prestige
The third, and final, part of a magic trick is The Prestige, during which the effect of the illusion is produced.

BB's rang, flying and I could hear it hitting just about everywhere. Peeking through my cover, I could see Reggie firing from the bushes and I know Jeff is likewise. Enemies behind me are now on my sides and a couple in my front and one literally besides me. Since I am at flow with them they must have though I am part of their group. Now the illusion is complete. With just a few feet from them I can easily take them down, but it wasn't yet time, I can still hear four or more behind me and I needed them advance up front to effectively make my move.

More than ten minutes into the game, and after hitting as many enemies as they can, Jeff and Reggie was finally overwhelmed. And now it was all but me. Our opponent took this chance to move up front, the thing I am waiting for and the thing that is futile for them. First to go was the one besides me, an induced knife kill. Moving out, I aimed Yinyan (my M4) and next to go was a tandem taking cover on a tree. Moving further to my left four more enemies came into my full view and I have to pick them one at a time. It was fast, they were not able to retaliate, too damn fast even for me that I am too late when I came into my senses that one of my victim was a kid soldier. (I never enjoy knowing I hit a kid).

Conclusion
I out did myself that time. Doing something I never imagined would be doing and never dreamed of doing it all over again.

I ended my game prematurely that day because of scheduled commitments, nonetheless, before stepping out of the Camp, like every good performance, I turned my back, raised my head up into the heavens and did a bow.

Well now Mr. Meteorologist guy, have you solved the mystery why weekends and rain has this mutual attraction with each other? Saturday morning, the sun is all up, plenty of light and heat and all it's glory. Afternoon came and so did the dark clouds. Eight games rolled, and even before we could call it a day, rainburst chased us all over the field. Teams had to compete with intermittent shower throughout the remainder of the play and more rain came to bid us goodbye in the end.

There is not much you can do when it is raining. At least, that's what i'ved learned during a stalking game, so I let it be. I let the rain fall down on me. I let the rain kiss me. I let the rain beat upon my head with it's silver drops. And amidst the chaos it brought to the game, I let the rain sing me a lullaby and it brought me peace.

...by the way, I got Veronica up and running again. After a six grueling hours on my work table tinkering, I finally fixed her. Many thanks to Rameses who supplied the much needed sector gear. Much to my delight, the replacement part is a genuine TM, so I can say, my Veronica is still a full blooded Musashi!

August the 28th, 2008, Monday. My ever reliable secondary weapon, the TM HiCapa 4.3 went dead! My combat boots, a veteran of so many killing fields got ripped! And then, that same day, after 6 years, Veronica finally went into a, literally speaking, grinding halt. Her gears suffered a major damage, particularly the sector gear which gives power to the piston head, gear teeth got broken.

NorthCamp's Delta Mercenery Crew (DMC) Squad placed 2nd Runner Up in the recently concluded airsoft speedball competion during the TransCo Anniversary last June 26, 2008 at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in Quezon City.

Six teams filled in for the said event with Team Lost Command (TLC) emerging as champion, TransCo Airsoft Group (TRAG) came in as first runner up while team DMC landed second runner up. And for a rookie squad (DMC) and entering on their first ever airsoft competion, that is quite a feat.

Zombie in the field

"Sir hit ka na!" a player shouting at another player, "ikaw! yung nasa puno hit ka na! kanina pa kita binabaril hit ka na!" he continued. Then he let loose some more bb's. "hit ka na sabi!" Then the player he allegedly shooting at replied, "sige na tumigil ka lang!" then that player stood up and move out towards the safe zone and to me. Its a newbie guy.

"Were you hit?" I asked.
The newbie replied "No!"
"Then why did you moved out?"
"Eh ang kulit nya! He kept on hit-calling eh hindi naman talaga ako tinatamaan! Di ba senior yun? He should have known better!"
Then this guy in the field continue to rant. "Hay naku puro zombie! Nakakasira ng laro!" He then stood up and in disgust fired shots in the air. And walks out towards his stuffs.

WTF! I recognized this guy! I just pumped three bb's on his chest during the morning scenario game. I cant forget that because he said "Sir! Its a friendly" and he continued his way through the bushes! I swear I got him on the chest, even though I did a blue-on-blue, he should have called hit. But he did not. And on that same scenario game, he was again in the receiving end when he exchanged bb's with an opponent (a visitor) whom he alleged as also a zombie. He got bb marks on him from that scene and I was saying to myself, he should have not gotten those bruises if in the first place he had called himself hit when I accidentally got him.

Picking up his things, I hear him say, "Makauwi na lang! Ang ganda-ganda ng airsoft nasisira lang sa mga zombie!" He got his stuffs carried it. On his way out of the Camp he continue his rant.

Man, talk about zombies!

Its a sad thing to see this kind of thing happen. But I really dont mind this guy leaving the Camp, I myself don't mind it all. For all you know, he could have done us a favor that day.

DMC came in full force last weekend for a Saturday game at the Camp. Alvin, Arvin, Melvin, Loloy, William, Dhudz, Ariel, Eric, Royce, Menrick, and Bing was there to amply beefed up the group. I tagged along with them and even co-commodered a successful mission game that morning. I've been hearing a lot of nice feedbacks on the group from CCAG vets and I for one admire the camaraderie and discipline the group (i've been with these guys even before their airsoft days) possesses in and out of the playing field. And during a private game with them yesterday (Sunday), Eric announced a very good news for the team from CCAG, I won't divulge anything in here except that it is a GOOD NEWS! You guys from DMC knows what it is. Kudos to you comrades! (hoy eric! mag pa-cheese burger ka naman!)

Bong "BlackPope" Turingan and Giovan "BrokenArm" Paz who will for now be on an indefinite leave. Giovan will be migrating to the States while Fr. Bong will be preparing for his coming ordination. Their presence will be truly miss by the NorthCamp family.

Hello all. Did not play AS this weekend, but I went to NC to take a look at Alvin's very first AS game and to know how it went. And while I was listening to their story someone broke a question addressed to me.

"Why did you surrender?"

He was pointing out a game we had almost a month ago (naalala pa nya yun!) wherein the only one left to defend our base is me up against five or more Neps advancing to where my position is. And from where I am, I could have given them a good fire fight and I could easily taken down at least two of them with me. However, it was easy to recognized it was a no-win scenario, that is why I did not. And before things get chaotic, I stood up to reveal myself, I hold up my weapon and I walked out. Whether I stood my ground or not, to me it is still a form of surrender in one way or another.

My answer, "I dont wanna hurt no body and i don't wanna get hurt either. That is why I surrender."

And in my mind I whispered, "...more than anything else, I dont wanna give them the GLORY of they, hitting me..."

Just awhile ago I received a text message from Tin (Tintoot TMS) saying that a TMS teammate of ours past away this morning. Our good friend Mark Franco (RB/ragingbull) died due to complications from the gallbladder operations he underwent.

I still have a bit of hangover from all the drink i have to take down, its fiesta and you couldn't get away with it. I don't usually go to the extreme when I drink but this one is an exception. So I say. hehe. Today's Fiesta celebration was a far a lot better than recent fiestas we have in the Village thanks to brother Dhudz and his rug-tag-team (kami!) in making the celebration a truly wonderful event. No thanks to the people who did not believe in Dhudz and abandoned him in this undertaking. Iwan ba naman sya sa ere kung kailan mainit ang labanan? Tama ba naman yun?

One word I need to say - amazing! And thanks bro for making everything alright!

Got a bruised on my right index finger from a game awhile ago and I swear I wont be able to squeezed the trigger for a couple of days. Not with my trigger finger anyway. Good thing is, I can still type on my keyboard (I need to, I brought home some office works) and that is enough reason to blog about. hehe. I've been hit many times before but this is the first time on my hand. After hearing an AEG went off from a distance, I felt a stinging sensation on my hand. I took my right glove off to see what happened. A bruised the size of a 6mm. bb immediately immerges, there is blood but since the skin didn't break it is still tucked underneath it. And later I had to popped it out to clean it. Nasty!

Sometimes I am having second thoughts on why am I playing this sports. And everytime that question comes into mind, I always have a quick answer - "WHY NOT?" haha!

While I am writing this blog, I am holding Mico with my left hand while my right is the one pushing the keys. Irene dear is out, her turn for her sports recreation and my turn to baby sit. Now that is what I call team work.

By the way, it rained during our game.

Summer’s done. Almost everyday now, there is rain. Not that I am complaining, I do welcome the rain, really, same way as I welcome the summer’s heat. I am quite good at it, loving what most people hate - the weather. haha!

I wasn’t able to play AS last weekend (two weekends already) since I am in Pampanga. But I do did check the game photos for that day and boy they are soaking wet in the rain, mud all around and they are having a grand time. I never really tried playing it out in the rain, I choose my battle, and rain is not part of it. Hey don’t get me wrong, I love the rain, I thrive on it... but not with Veronica on my hands.

It'll Wait

Saturday just knocked on my door a few minutes ago. This usually mean that later on I am going out with Veronica for a trip at the Camp along with whoever is willing to join. Not this time though. Later on, I'll be driving and greeting the sun going to Pampanga along with Irene and my m&m. Pampanga is the next best thing besides Ilocos. You know what I love about the fact that we always go to Pampanga? Many things.

The NLEX is so nice to drive on. Travel time is a relaxing one hour and a half. I always get to have a free Frapocino Javachips courtesy of Irene dear. When you arrived, everyone is just so excited to see you. Folks just couldn't get enough in inviting you for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner and just about for every merienda. In short, food is everywhere!

A late afternoon stroll in the field is always something Matthew is looking forward to. And soon, Mico will be joining the stroll and again, Mt. Arayat shall be a witness to this.

Well that's all I have to say now, I am going to bed. Happy weekend people. I am gonna be all over Pampanga later.

I Shall Return

The question I left hanging after my very first AS game at the House of Representative was whether I am going to return for another game there or that would be it with team HORAC?

Of course, the answer was an obvious "yes, I shall return" - an answer I formulated even before the question to go back was even raised.

On my second visit to the HOR, I tagged along with the boys of DMC (aka "the cross-stitch boys) - Eric, Loloy, Janno, my brother Dhudz, Melvin and Arvin. We were then grouped with another guest team, the team from Montalban, team BANAT. Our combined forces has proven lethal to team HORAC which resulted in a total run down of the their squad in an end game scenario. It was fun though!

With that it is just rightful to say "I shall return" or I guess more proper would be, "we shall return".

My Shemagh

The keffiyeh is also known as a shmagh, shemagh or yashmag, and is a traditional headdress of Arab men, made of a square of cloth ("scarf"), usually cotton, folded and wrapped in various styles around the head. It is commonly found in arid climate areas to provide protection from direct sun exposure, as well as for occasional use in protecting the mouth and eyes from blown dust and sand.

Their practicality in an arid environment explains their constant popularity with soldiers. Soldiers often wear the keffiyeh folded in half into a triangle and wrapped around the face, with the halfway point being placed over the mouth and nose, sometimes coupled with goggles, to keep sand out of the face.

And I Continue to Dance with Veronica

It was in the year 2003 that I first got a glimpse of her, in one of those early Filipino men’s magazine that you wouldn’t believe existed at those time. Lots of photos of her by photographer Albert Labrador who also wrote the featured article for that magazine. There she was with all those men around her, whom from their looks will fight it off amongst themselves just to have her. And there am I staring at her photos drooling to get my hands on her too. And the next thing I knew I was keying on my keyboard the web address of the site wherein you can contact those people managing Veronica and the likes of her. And behold! Just a few days of waiting, a friend brought Veronica to me fresh and flawless all for me to lust about. Immediately I drove home with her, it was raining hard, the road endless and the night cold. Couldn’t resist touching her… couldn’t stop holding her. And our first dance happened that night.

It didn't take long, we started to date. I introduced her to my friends who are a bit surprised and awed. Awed because of Veronica's beauty, surprised because never did they imagined me together with a thing like her. She blended in immediately with my crowd, me and Veronica danced their music, me and my friends were very glad to have her with us.

Years past and time has taken it's toll on our group. The once crowded dance floor slowly turned into an empty hall. And the sound of silence echoed within its four blank walls. But me and Veronica knew that in some other places the music we learned to danced are playing and that we have to go on with or without the group. And more than ever, we depended on each other. Dance floor after dance floor was a conquest. Veronica's beauty matured with age but her true strength stayed on to linger.

Its been five years now since our first dance, and man, what a run it has been. Along the way we were able to meet new friends, renewed old acquaintances, discovered unfound places and learned some daring steps. We could have stopped along with the group who is in hiatus but the call of the dance floor is just too tempting to just even think of fading out. And yes, their will be a time when me and Veronica will call it quits. And that is unavoidable, something you really can't scape from. But until then, as long as i can still move both of my feet forward, as long as I can still feel and hear the sweet sounds of the AEG's, as long as there is a space to move around, I will continue to dance with my Veronica.

Eric Adug of Team HORAC (House of Representative Airsoft Club) made a visit to NorthCamp last weekend (Mar 1, 2008). He had a taste of jungle warfare and had a blast of a game that day. I meant that literally, he and me were blasted away by the opposition. Aray!

Embedded Marshalls

Most recently, player turn-out at NorthCamp at the beginning of 2008 has ballooned from the average number of 40 to 50 players to 60 to 70 per playing day. Not that the management doesn't welcome such influx of players but rather delighted to see growth of the Camp itself. However, such increase in players has it's drawback particularly when it comes to managing games.

Game marshalling in NorthCamp is not a big problem since most of the regular players and newbies alike, often and always reminded about honesty in game. Therefore, game integrity is on top of the list everytime. Nevertheless, NC aren't taking any chances and would like to tackle things head-on.

Enter the Embedded Marshalls (E-Ms - pronounced, e-ems ).

Instead of adding regular marshalls, NC opted for something radical... something that the other playing site has not yet fully implemented or in some, not yet tried. Embedded Marshalls consist mostly of vet players filled in as players and at the same time game marshalls. The advantage of having this kind of marshalls are that they not only oversee the game, they are in the game itself. Regular players are simply made aware that embedded marshalls are with them as to deter rule breakers. With a regular marhall and embedded marshalls on hand, even with a large number of players, game integrity is preserved.

This could be my last game for 2007 and what a run it has been. Met new friends, renewed old acquaintances and proved being a lonewolf isn't at all such a bad idea. My teammates from TMS (Team Mission Specific) is on a hiatus for sometime now and i am still waiting for them to play soon.

TMS during the 2005 Operation Unity

The NorthCamp, my home each and every playing date for almost two years now has somehow provided a haven to dealt with my craving for airsoft. Spear heading the management of the site and it's avid followers is the triumvirate leadership of Horace, Giovan and Reggie of Team CCAG/Sat Group. Through their guidance, players grew from a humble 12 to a responsible 50 as an average count every playing date. Player discipline is high on the list something that other playing site can only dream of.

The NC Fellowship Day (Dec15'07) is a fitting event to capped NorthCamp's success for the year 2007. Regular game was held and after that, just on the onset of dusk, bonfire was held complete with food and drink plus plenty of laughter and a lot of cheers. And this was captured through the lens of Dennis Magdamo, a professional photographer, a friend and comrade from the advertising world.

Matthew's Shell chess banner was displayed along with other banners during the Grand Finals of the Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship at the SM MegaMall last Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007. We drop by to watch and I am amaze how young some of the participants are... 4 and 3 years old already highly skilled in chess!

Announcement were made Friday night that Saturday game at NorthCamp is cancelled in light of the Glorietta bombing in Makati that day. It was a surprised that players still flocked the Camp despite of the announcement. Needless to say, players decided (I for one) that no terror act should stop one from continuing to live his life, if you are going to let terror stop you from living your life, you might as well be dead.

With a loud voice, the game marshall asked for five volunteers for the next mission. Without any hesitation i step forward. And immediately four more lads follow. Perhaps all of us (or just me) are thinking this would be one exciting mission that we can not afford to pass.

Right, our thoughts are the same. But wrong, its a different mission.

This time with a soft tone the game marshall gave an order, "ok, you guys will be POWs and you are not supposed to engage in anything except stay put inside the barracks until rescued."

The idea of being hunted down and shot at is unsettling, more so frustrating if you find out it's a friendly doing it on you.
Since playing airsoft four years ago, never did I have a game without experiencing friendly fire. It seems that those things are unavoidable since airsoft is always a fast-phased game and armbands does fail sometimes. I had been very cautious at letting my bb's fly without positive ID on my opponent. I don't recall any of my games me hitting a teamate (not that I know of any way). But no matter how careful am I, rules on percentage can catch up on you. I did a blue-on-blue on a teamate. Though appologies were thrown and accepted, i do feel embarrassed, more so disgusted. Now I know what it feels like on the other side of the fence.

NorthCamp Zabarte Aug25'07

It's my fifth time and 4th consecutive game here at CCAG's NorthCamp Zabarte. Game here starts early at 10am and I was in for it. I was also able to snap a few photos that morning, and since ako yung kumukuha ng picture, syampre wala ako sa eksena. Haha! My score that day 7 kills including 1 knifekill... unfortunately I was also a victim of a friendly fire that morning. I didn't stay for the afternoon game because of the rain.

The Sleep Over

haha! matthew's cousins chin, brix and raphael went
to bloomfields for their turn for a sleep over. it
was a long weekend for everybody and sure enough they
make good used of it even though it was only an
overnight stay at our home.

wow! surprise-surprise! what do you know? there is a playing site near my home which i knew just recently. how near? just a walking distance from our house... say 7 - 10 minutes walk? hehehe. that's beacause it is within the subdivision where i live!

it's a good thing i was able to glance upon the invite of sgt.rock (reggie) of team CCAG at the FAS forum. it says there, "new playing site near fairview" and upon inquiring about it, i found out it is a really "near" place! no long travel! no traffic! no worries on check points! no hussle! really convenient! and what's more? the team hosting the site is a very accomodating team, they are a team who doesn't believe that fire-power can do the trick but more of strategies. no wonder they bagged the first runner-up place in the recent Kalis VI. hooah!

Once again the hills of Timberland Heights became a witness of yet another epic encounter between an unstoppable force and an immovable object. More than 400 participants, at least 30 AS teams, 12 hours of non-stop combat, 2 warring factions, 1 single goal - to overrun each other. Night Dagger 2.

Guess who showed up for a Sunday game at the DMZ - NIKKO, BETTINA, MAC and JAY!

It's a good thing I did not go home when it rained that afternoon in UP, or else I would have missed my friends who surpringly made a trip to DMZ. It became a really fun filled afternoon and really made my BDAY-GAME complete.

AAZ Kalis6

Went to watch Kalis6, dubbed as "Furies" in the Army Adventure Zone in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig last Saturday just to take a glimpse of what maybe the biggest airsoft event of the year. I went there to participate as an expectator hehehe... well, went there for the goodies too... wow all at discounted prices! I was able to meet two of my old friends during the event - Jeff aka AFPMCboy of GSG9 and the man himself - Anthony aka SAX of team OZ who by the way is the team who run away with the K6 championship. Congratulations to team Omega Zone!

Games had to be moved from the Vanguard compound to the UP College of Fine Arts area due to numerous activities happening at the school ground that day. There was the Alumni Homecoming plus the sportfest activity at Vanguard and at the same time UAAP games are being held just accross the vicinity. Needless to say, we have to vacate the DMZ of any airsoft activities. The organizer, the SOE Force1, and a very good organizer they are, remedied the problem and were able to negotiate a place for the airsoft games - the UP College of Fine Arts compound.

As always, games at DMZ are fast, fun and friendly. A little CQB and open field skirmishes was the order of the day. G-man and Sharpnel of Combat Team Omega (CTO) provided some photo-ops.

Behind Enemy Lines

Game scenario is “attack & defend”. The group I am with is to defend and secure a 40ft. tower and prevent the attacking forces, a twelve-member assault group, from over running the said fortress. We are 8 in the squad, one, a sniper manning the top of the tower, five scattered below within the immediate vicinity of the tower, while me and a buddy is in the forward area of the tower to offer a first line of defense for the group. Two minutes into the game and I got a visual on three tangos on my twelve o'clock. I notify my buddy who is ten meters behind my back on my intention of sneaking near the enemy's position. After a go signal from my buddy, I crawled my way to my intended position which is about 50 meters of my nearest enemy. My buddy is poist to attack but decided not to as to not compromise his position early in the game. Now I am well under the shooting range of my M4 and also within the area of my enemy. The elements of surprise is still with me and three targets grouped together is literally an easy picking. Slowly, I squared off to get a shot but before I could acquire my target in my scope, bb's came flying towards my right side hitting me. Immediately I acknowledge the fact that I am hit by standing up and raising my weapon up in the air. My opponent in my far front was surprised to see me coming out. I walk toward one of the game marshalls who then asked which of my opponent got me? I told the marshall not them, pointing at my former targets, they did not fire a shot. Definitely not their teamates co'z they are too far from me to score a hit. Who then? Who else but our sniper on top. He waived at me after I stood up. SInce I am already in the enemy teritory, he must have tought I am one of enemy. e. e. e.
